Notifications

The bell in the navigation band, or ⌃⌥U on macOS and Ctrl+Alt+U on Linux, opens the notifications.

Where they come from

Every fetch finds what changed on the remotes: which branches moved, with which commits, by whom. tratto fetches on its own, every few minutes (Settings › General › Sync), and also after a fetch, Fetch All or pull you start yourself. Only one running tratto fetches on its own at a time.

What it found stays for 30 days.

System notifications

tratto also posts system notifications: through Notification Center on macOS and the desktop's notification service on Linux. A round posts at most five, and folds the rest into one more.

Choosing what notifies you

Settings › General › Notifications chooses all repositories or only some. Per project you can name the branches that matter with patterns such as release/*, or leave some out with !wip/*. A branch's context menu has Notify me and Mute for that one branch.

An AI summary of each event can be turned on there too, when an AI tool is connected.

Sounds

Settings › General › Sounds gives tratto a voice. Each sound is set on its own to Notify with sound, Notify without sound or Off, and Mute every sound silences them all while the notifications still show.

  • Notifications from fetch: one sound for a round that posts notifications, however many it posts. It is silent until you turn the sound on.
  • Machine busy: when the CPU stays above the threshold (80% by default) for the whole time set (5 minutes by default). It tells once, and again only after the CPU has come back under the threshold. Unless it is off, tratto keeps reading the machine even with its item hidden from the status bar.
  • Claude window reset: when the five-hour window or the weekly one starts again, at the time of the reset.
  • Claude quota near its limit: once per window and period, when its use reaches the threshold (90% by default).

Every sound ships with tratto. To use your own, write the path of a sound file in its Own sound field; a file that is gone falls back to the shipped one. On Linux the sound plays through pw-play, paplay or aplay, on macOS through afplay; without any of them tratto stays silent.
